Green Diary Date: World Elephant Day
Share Article

August 12th is World Elephant Day! It is a day to honor elephants, to spread awareness about the critical threats they are facing, and to support positive solutions that will help ensure their survival.

Key populations are in decline due to poaching and a shrinking habitat. In Asia, elephants have disappeared from approximately 85% of their historic range. While in Africa, poaching is an ever-present threat – this is largely due to illegal demand for ivory in Asia. Did you know around 47 African elephants are killed a day for their tusks.

You can learn more about World Elephant Day on the official website.

Make sure you mark this date on your PR calendars and prepare your media pitches accordingly. Get involved with any initiatives or take it as a chance to learn more about the subject.
