Share Article

June 21st is World Giraffe Day! This day was established by the Giraffe Conservation Foundation to celebrate the longest-necked animal on the longest day or night of the year. It is also a day to raise support, create awareness and shed light on the challenges giraffe face in the wild.

Giraffe numbers have declined by almost 30% in just over three decades to approximately 117,000 in the wild. It is likely that giraffe numbered ten times as many only a century ago.
